Soooo, you’ve decided to learn some HTML (aka HyperText Markup Language), huh. How cool is that. VERY MUCH c00l. What is HTML, you may be wondering. Basically, it’s the structure of a web page. You know those websites that we ever so often go to as we’re on the google. YUP THOOOOSE! I know.. pretty mind blowing and cool. Okay, so, aside from being the literal skeleton of all web pages (woah), HTML is what lets you (the user) see those images, texts, videos, etc. YOU KNOW WHAT’S EVEN FLIPPING COOLER?? Wait, I need a sec to compose myself, I’m not screaming, I’m just excited.
…
Okay, back to what I was saying. You’re about to learn some HTML basics (aka the first step when creating a website). YOU READY??!! Let’s goo:
What you need:
First offff, you’ll need two programs: an editor and a browser.
Online website. CodePen is social development environment where you can build and test your code, learn and discover other people’s projects, and more! You can use this as your online editor to start coding! This one already has the editor and the output it will show for the code you put 🙂
Sublime Text is one of the best editors, in my opinion. However, I think that after a certain period, you’re going to need to pay to continue using this one.
A browser is used for viewing and testing your website, a few examples for a browser: Google (I recommend using this one), Safari, and Firefox.
HTML Element Anatomy:
quick side note: HTML is made of elements. Majority of the time (not all of the time tho!!) an Html Element consists of two tags (one opening and closing tag).
Here’s a lil diagram to show a paragraph element:
mini breakdown of <p> element (psst it’s the image above hehe) anatomy:
Element name:
This is the name of the element you are using. In our example, we used a <p> element, this would change if you were putting a video, image, header, etc.
Opening tag:
This would have the name of the element, in the example above its p. The name of the element is wrapped in an opening and closing angle bracket.
Element Content:
This is the content of your element. In our example, it’s the text saying: ur cool (which you are very much so btw).
Closing tag:
Although not all elements have a closing tag (such as an image element), in the case of the <p> element there is one. It’s almost exactly like the opening tag EXCEPT it has a forward slash before the element name.
HTML Document Basics To do (to do, to do, to do, to do, to doooo):
To tell the browser that the document you are uploading is a HTML document, start the first line with: <!DOCTYPE html>
To start and end the html document, you wrap all the content with the <html> element.
Inside the <html> document, there are two sections: head section and body section.
About the head section: uses the <head> element. Inside this section, put <metacharset=”utf-8“>, this element indicates and sets the character of your document. Aside from the <title> element which sets the title of your page, another thing I want to mention is that the information put in the head section does not appear to your page’s viewers.
About the body section: uses the <body> element. This part of the html document has all the content you want to show to your website user.
Headings:
There are six different headings. These headings have a lot of different purposes such as for articles, descriptions, titling, and more. Ordered from largest to smallest in size, here are the list of heading elements:
h1
\\ Code:
<h1> This is what the header looks like using h1 </h1>
\\ Output:
This is what the header looks like using h1
h2
\\ Code:
<h2> This is what the header looks like using h2 </h2>
\\ Output:
This is what the header looks like using h2
h3
\\ Code:
<h3> This is what the header looks like using h3 </h3>
\\ Output:
This is what the header looks like using h3
h4
\\ Code:
<h4> This what the header looks like using </h4>
\\ Output:
This is what the header looks like using h4
h5
\\ Code:
<h5> This is what the header looks like using h5 </h5>
\\ Output:
This is what the header looks like using h5
h6
\\ Code:
<h6> This is what the header looks like using h6 </h6>
\\ Output:
This is what the header looks like using h6
Paragraphs:
This element is defined with the <p> tags. This is a paragraph.
\\ Code:
<p> hallo u amazing human </p>
\\ Output:
hallo u amazing human
Divs:
A div (aka division, element, or a container) is the most usable tag in web development and it is used to separate out data in the web page and group elements in your HTML together which can later be styled with CSS. A div can contain any HTML elements, such as links, texts, images, or videos. A div is usually given a unique id to distinguish it from other div elements.
Attributes:
Attributes are used for putting more information for an item and expanding an element’s tag. Attributes are added to the opening tag of an element and include a name and a value. There should be a space between the attribute and element. The attribute name should be followed by an ‘=’ sign. The attribute value should be wrapped by an opening and closing quotation mark.
Lists:
There are ordered lists and unordered lists. Unordered lists are lists where the order of the list doesn’t matter, these types of lists are wrapped in a <ul> element. On the other hand, an ordered list have an order that matters and is wrapped in a <ol> element. After declaring what type of list you want, each item inside the list is wrapped in a <li> (aka list item) element.
unordered list
\\ Code:
\\ Output:
ordered list
\\ Code:
\\ Output:
Image:
IMAGES!! To add an image to a web page you will be using the <img> element. HOWEVER this element is lil bit different because it doesn’t have a separate closing tag. It actually has a self-closing tag. I’ll show what this means in the example below. An <img> element contains these attributes:
src
The src should be set to the image’s source, URL, location, or file name.
alt (aka alternative text)
This is a description for the image. If the photo is not loading properly or the user of your website is visually impaired the alt attribute is a descriptive text that will help in those cases. It also helps with SEO (aka Search Engine Optimization).
Video:
Aside from images, you can also add videos using HTML! To add a video you will need to use the <video>element. There is a closing and opening tag. The attributes for a video are these: src, width, height, and controls (allows for basic video controls like pause, play, and skip).
tip: indentation is great for organization and you should really use it in your code!
Okie dokie 🙂 that’s going to be allll for now peeps! Hope that you found this useful and fun hehe. Now, go make a file on your editor, write some code, experiment, save the file (making it end it .html), and test it out on a browser!
Hey, guys!! I’m reselling some clothes 🙂 Some of them are thrifted and some of them are new clothes that I didn’t end up using ❤ If you want to check it out, I have a Depop shop and I recently opened an Instagram for it:
Quote of AWESOMENESS: “New year- a new chapter, new verse, or just the same old story? Ultimately we write it. The choice is ours.” – Alex Morritt
This year flew by pretty quickly, huh. LIKE it’s almost 2020. Like, 2019 is nearly done. Whhhaaatttt? Okay, this year was definitely something. It was tough, surprising, and interesting. Today’s blog is comprised of a few things to do before 2020 to get it together. You need to understand that in order for 2020 to better and change from how 2019 went, you can’t keep doing the same things. So, let us continue:
1: Removing Negative Talk from Our Vocabulary
What is with all this negative talk anyway? When someone makes a mistake on a test or accidentally does something, we try and cheer them up and tell them positive things. Yet, when it comes to ourselves we can get so angry. We can get so angry at the smallest mistakes that we do. It’s so easy for us to look in the mirror and negatively talk ourselves down. Stop. This isn’t good for you or anyone. At all. Listen here pal, I know it’s a tough world out there and we make mistakes. But, the only thing to do is owning up to our mistakes and moving on. From there, that’s where you learn to grow from your mistakes and improve your actions. Words are important too. Sometimes we talk to ourselves badly too often as a joke we don’t even notice it. You need to catch yourself and stop the cycle.
2: Leave the Toxic Relationships
They exist. Toxic people. Toxic relationships. They zap the life out of you. They drain emotionally and nothing about brings anything good to your life. You might not even notice that you’re in a relationship with a toxic friend or group. So, how do you distinguish a toxic relationship? When you are with the person, they don’t bring out the best in you. Yes, there are friends who make mistakes, miss out on plans sometimes, but if it’s too constant, maybe reevaluating your relationship with that person is needed. There are many signs, although sometimes subtle, when it comes to dealing with someone toxic. It might be a bit difficult but it will be best for you. Distance yourself from your toxic relationships and healing will take place. This also means online! Like, are you following anyone on Instagram (or something) and everything you see a post by a certain someone you don’t feel good. ever. Unfollow them in real life and in person. Follow those who inspire you, pump you up, and make you smile.
3: Clear the Bad Vibeys
Maybe it was a small petty fight. Maybe it was something bigger than that. Nonetheless, you stopped talking to someone because of some unresolved matter. It sucks. Maybe that person was your best friend or maybe someone you became close with. Now awkwardness takes the air as you guys make eye contact. It’s the bad vibe series. You both feel the tensions, both want it to stop, but both do nothing. This is your sign, by the way, if you were looking for one. It might be a little hard, but take the first step to cease fire on the ongoing silent battle. Say sorry, or talk to the person about how you want to “clear the bad vibes” or tell them that you forgive them. This will help you enter 2020 with a clear mentality and heavyweight lifted from your shoulders.
4: Declutter, declutter, DECLUTTER
Before 2020, declutter the things in your life that no longer serve any use to you. Keep those of value, but learn to let go of that long-time shirt that you no longer use that has about three rips in it and sleeps at the bottom of your cabinet (we all have something like this lying around, right?) Decluttteeeeeerrrr. Take time out of your day, or week, and remove one thing (or more!!) to declutter your house. Your house will then be only filled with the things that bring you happiness and clarity.
5: Envision the Vision
Dudes, vision boards are way awesome. Trust me. Like they are basically magic boards or coolness. And, that’s just barely describing them. I would say that I am a big believer in the power of manifestation and attraction. I’ve made vision boards before and I cannot tell you how amazing it was too look at them a couple years later and realize that I’ve accomplished or got everything I put into them. Start making your vision board: fill it up with things you want, things you want to achieve, powerful quotes, and motivation. Put it up on your wall and watch the manifestation take place.
6: Grab your tools
Tools in life will help you. I mean that’s why they exist. To help you. Trust me, it’ll work. To get your whole shebang together, two tools that will be extremely helpful to you is as simple as this: a notebook and a pen. Write. WRITE. Write down your schedules, notes, and deadlines. Write it down. Look at it and use it. When I started making my bullet journal, my schedule and productivity noticeably improved! You can do that too! Taking a mental note on everything you need to do doesn’t work. I’ve tried it way too many times. So remember: write it down.
7: Mini habits to implement before 2020!
Do small things every day and eventually, the results will become so big. Small things do matter. The mini habits to start implementing:
Make your bed: First thing in the morning make your bed! I know it’s such a small task we sometimes just move past it. But, do it! It gives you a sense of accomplishment in the morning, keeps your room tidy, and encourages you to keep going your day tackling more to-dos. Also, it stops you from jumping straight back to bed when you wake up!
Night to-do lists: We may have planned things throughout the day that we may have forgotten or decided to do another time. Before you sleep, make sure you have a to-do list beside your bed. Any things that you weren’t able to accomplish or things that pop in your head that you want to do —> write it down.
Always set aside time for “me” time: You are important. Yes, you are. YOU ARE. So, make sure that in your day and week you always set aside time to take care of yourself. Meditate, listen to music, or do something that you love for your “me” time. Take care of yourself. You need time to recharge.
Dress for action: When you wake up, make your bed, hydrate, the next thing to do is dress up and prepare yourself for the day. If you stay in your pajamas the whole day, your brain can’t tell the difference between what mode they should be in. Sleeping mode? Or working boss mode? When you prepare for the day and dress up like it, your brain helps you to go into boss mode.
8: Start (like literally) Right Now
There is no “perfect time”. It just doesn’t exist. Whether it’s Monday or the start of the month, the best time to start is now. NOW. You know what’s so awesome about starting now? It’s a head start before 2020. Yup, a head start. Remember that nothing changes overnight and the process for what you want takes time. Starting working out now, start organizing now, start NOW.
Thank you for reading peoples! It means so much to me 🙂 I hope that the rest of 2019 turns out awesome. Remember: 2020 is YOUR YEAR.

Quote of AWESOMENESSS: “Essential oils, the awesomeness it holds is absolutely amazing.” – me (psst… it’s aka L.O.A.S.H)
Doesn’t it just kinda annoy you when all the stressful events in life just like to show up on your face. You know what I’m talking about. Your skin is important and taking care of it is important. I can’t say how many times my face gets irritated and stressed from just, you know, life. But, I have a secret! This is what I use to keep my skin under control and happy. Essential oils! However, one specific product that I use that has worked absolute miracles is called: CORRECT X. This ointment helps keep my skin clean and moisturized at the same time it helps my skin recover from irritation.
Just click the name above, order, and have your magic delivered to your door! It’s worth an investment because of its gentle formula which calms irritation, nourishes the skin (really well, I may add), moisturizes, and helps protect against additional damage. The best part is, it’s chemical-free!
Magic Ingredients in Correct X:
#1, Frankincense: This oil was used since ancient eras. Along with many other uses, it helps with beautifying (in a natural way) your skin.
#2, Helichrysum: This precious oil is known for its healing, fusing, and regenerating power. It helps with reducing blemishes and aids with that healthy, happy skin.
#3, Melaleuca: Helps with cleansing and resolving. This oil is A.K.A tea tree and is great for soothing skin.
#4, Cedarwood: Native Americans have been using this oil for hundreds of years. It has a sweet and woody aroma to it. It works as a facial toner and promotes healthy skin.
#5, Lavender: Mmmmm, I love lavender. It gives off a fresh and flowery smell that absolutely lightens my mood. This oil is good to calm the mind as well as soothing occasional skin irritation.
Quote of today’s blog: “A boss has a title, a leader has the people.” – Simon Sinek
(just an FYI but there were just so many quotes that I had a tough time choosing, phooey)
This may be a tad bit long but rest assured that it’s definitely worth reading!
Joining the M.A.P Leadership Academy was honestly an AWESOME idea (which, btw, creds go to my mom who told me to go). Oh, and, in case you were wondering, M.A.P is A.K.A Monrovia Partnership Area. It is about a 7-week academy (but only on Wednesdays every week) where we learn so much about leadership, volunteering, helping in the community, and more. Today we’ll be talking about how the first day went by. It gets a little emotional at the end (so brace yourselves).
Okay, so the first Wednesday we met, we had introductions to everyone and some ice breakers. Did you know that the person who facilitated the academy made an inspirational speech to us? Did you know that that same person was there when they held their very first M.A.P Academy for adults? Yup, he was. Very cool, I know. His name is *ahem, drum roll, please* Ed Nicholls. He shared with us about leadership, and I will be telling you what I learned from him.
I’M VERY EXCITED I MIGHT PEE.
Okay, I’ll chill now. Soooo, let me start by saying you are a leader. Whether you are doing something good or not, your actions which people see is still leading them. When you step outside your door, when you are buying milk from your local milk shop (is this a thing? a milk shop? oh well..), and when you go on with your life as you do, you are leading. So, wouldn’t you want to increase your capacity of leadership and improve the skills which you already have? I’m taking that as a yes. Let’s do this.
What you need to start building in your life would be a team. Your team. This team will be there during those tough times and those happy times. This team will be there as you go through the struggles and rough times of life. This team works as your motivator. Those in your team are those you look up to, those who inspire you to GET BACK UP AGAIN. Some people to add to your team could be:
Martin Luther King
Abraham Lincoln
Mother Teresa
Hellen Keller
Your parents
Nick Vujicic
You might be saying right now: “wait, wait, hold up…”
Your team consists of anyone that inspires you. ANYONE. Feel like you don’t think you can get back up again? You feel like the odds are against you and everyone’s just out to get you? Think about your team. Those people you put together in your heart and mind. Let Hellen Keller’s will to strive despite the challenges and hardships in her life keep you going when the going gets tough and you prove to yourself that the tough (a.k.a you) can get going. Let Nick Vujicic motivate you to keep fighting, believing, and keep pushing forward when you start doubting what you’re capable of. As you face your next challenge in life, close your eyes, think about how that person (whether it be your mom, dad, sibling, best friend, cousin, etc.) or people you have in your life have shown such strength and kindness and use that to KEEP. MOVING. FORWARD. to LEAD. WITH. HEART. to GET. BACK. UP.
Feeling fired up? Yeah, we’re just getting started…
Here comes more of the good stuff. The 8 leadership qualities that will help you on your awesome journey to awesomeness:
Purpose
You need to be living your life on purpose. Put your heart into giving back and helping others who need help.
Attitude
I cannot (and I mean CANNOT) stress enough how important one’s attitude is. Your attitude is your weapon, it’s your greatest friend. YOU (and only you) choose the reaction you give to certain people and certain situations. Think of it like this:
Example: You walk into the kitchen humming your favorite song when you decide to open the fridge. Your eyes narrow down to the bottom shelf where you target the slice of cake you left the other day to eat. To your dismay, there’s a vacant spot which totally baffles you. You walk to the dining table, scratching your head with slight annoyance. Then there right on the table is YOUR SLICE OF CAKE. Your little sister has chocolate all over her face as she takes another bite into YOUR CAKE, despite having a fork in her hand.
So what would be your reaction?:
Start shouting and expressing all your boiled up anger which may have also built up from other things that may have happened during the day and dump that on your sister
Grab the plate, eat whatever is left, and walk away (in anger)
Laugh at how you would have done the same thing, sat beside your sister, ask if she would like to share the remaining, and talk about unicorns (or smthg, I mean idk about you but this is usually what I’d talk about to spark a convo)
I’ll be referring to situations when you feel the need get mad as -> CAKE situation
At times we tend to answer 1 or 2. We all sometimes overreact during situations then, later on, look back and regret it. It happens.
You might say “uhuh, yeah easy for you to say… it’s just cake…. my situation was different, I needed to get angry”.
LOOK I just used cake as my example but we know we’ve had some situations like this. And, no, you didn’t have to get angry that one time at that person. When you are faced with a CAKE situation, think of it as a fork in the road and you can choose either to take a deep breathe and act with kindness or do the opposite. Choose kindness. We react so quickly without thinking twice it becomes a habit that we don’t even realize because we convince ourself that that small outburst was just nothing and didn’t really mean much. If we keep a negative attitude during small CAKE situations, we will bring that same negative attitude to big CAKE situations. In other words, choose positivity, inspire others with your smile, be friendly. You might not think much about it but a smile is a powerful tool and can go a long way for many people. There are many dark places in our world, people who need repair, be that light, be kind 🙂
Character
Ooooh, this is a good one. Build your character. This is your foundation. You need a solid foundation. When you do something, do your very best (every day). To strengthen your character you will need dedication. Have impeccable honestly. INTEGRITY! Our character goes down to what we do, not what we think, not what we say, but what we DO. And, honesty is what a person with character has as the cores of their foundation. Being a person with character also means to be kind, to be an encourager.
“an encourager?,” YES an encourager.
Don’t give up on others.
Believe in them and don’t ever quit.
Balance
Balance is important in keeping your life together. You need to prioritize and organize. Each area of your life you have to find a balance. Think about the 6 Fs:
Faith
Family
Friends
Finance
Fitness
Fun
Keep balance in your mind, body, and soul. Something that has really helped me would be keeping a journal. In my journal, I would design something that would be helpful to me to keep the balances in life as well as doodle and creatively express myself on paper every now and then. It’s good healing to just write down what you’re feeling at times.
Forgiveness
It’s hard. I know. Sometimes you feel like someone has done you so wrong, like someone has disrespected you, like someone has just acted like a total DOUCH and all you want to do is punch them to the OTHER SIDE OF THE UNIVERSE AND THEN GIVE THEM ~THE~ STARE- I know, but we are all capable of forgiveness. It will make you feel so much better if you just forgive rather than hold in all that anger and carry that weight. People are generally good but it’s their environment that they’ve grown up in that may have them acting in a certain “mean” way. People have good intentions, the problem may be the way that they implement. So, when you just start building that tower of hatred or annoyance towards someone for some reason, think about how they just may be badly implementing their good intentions rather than jumping to conclusions and being mad. Forgiveness is a gift and people do struggle with it. But, great leaders make peace and not war, they forgive and work on what has caused the problem.
Perseverance
I’ll leave you with this on perseverance:
BE ALL IN- never quit.
Team-Spirit
Are you in a team? Are you? Yes, you are. In your family, you’re in a team. Doing a group project with some classmates? That’s a team. We are all in a team. We are all in this together whether we like to be or not. So, love what you do and love who you do it with. When you’re in a team, you help one another. When one of your team members is having trouble with something, you don’t just stare at them blankly with hints of disappointment, you run up to them, smile, and show them they’re not alone and that they’ve got this. When one of your team members struggle to shoot the ball in, give them the chance to keep doing it, keep practicing, believe in them to shoot in the ball (whether that be hypothetically or even physically if you are in a sport). You are in a team. And, when you’re in a team you make everyone around you better. Your home, your family, your friends, your team. Don’t leave anyone out and walk away just because you don’t like their attitude or something they’ve done. Remember, keep that team-spirit up.
Legacy
This wraps up the 8 qualities of being a leader. Your legacy. This is your story. Start building it now. How? Oh, I’ll tell you how. Invest in others, encourage others, help people, KEEP caring. Don’t leave anyone out. Everyone is fighting their own battles, don’t judge and assume what and why someone does something. Remember what I said at the beginning? Live with a purpose, help others. Keep that in your heart and use it.
Being a leader is having a purpose, keeping a good attitude, holding your character firmly in place, keeping balance in life, having the ability to forgive, never quitting and persevering, letting everyone play the game and showing team-spirit, and building your legacy. Never give up on yourself, never give up on others, and above all stay kind and good and encouraging. Finally, I want to end with a short film which they showed us at the end of Day 1. This really moved me and inspires. Here you go:
Quote of AWESOMENESS: “Life in orbit is spectacular.” – Tim Peake
Imagine this:
Morning burst like a bubble as the alarm shouted: “WAKE UP, IT’S 6 AM!“. The sun was showing off as the clouds slowly dispersed until it was nothing but fine grains of salt scattered across the sky. An announcement popped on the news telegram showing the weather and a little notification about all the events and stores that were broadcasting they’re open hours. You decide to go for a little hover as you look up into the thoughtfully designed elevators shooting to the stars. It was a piece of artwork. Luckily, you had put in your schedule to go for a zoom into space today with a couple of friends. You and your friends meet up at one of the elevator points and get in with your special suits (which, by the way, look absolutely amazing) and designed gear. The countdown starts, “Please make sure you’re properly suited up and secured to the wall…. 5…. 4… 3.. 2..”
Before you could say “snickerdoodle”, the elevator starts its ascend into the sky and the ground below you starts to shrink. Your favorite song plays over the speaker as you and your friends start discussing which restaurant on which planet you wanted to try this time……
Okay, maybe the planet-hopping might take a little more brainstorming and planning and researching, but wouldn’t this be such an adventure.
Today we shall be discussing (yes, I know, that was a very formal-serious-big word I just used) the 𝓢𝓹𝓪𝓬𝓮 𝓮𝓵𝓮𝓿𝓪𝓽𝓸𝓻. Okay, so, let us proceed…..
Ideas of the space elevator have already been put out there for quite some time. “What is it?”, you may be asking yourself. Well, basically, it’s an elevator which starts here (on our beautiful planet) and goes on and on and on until space. I know, that would be pretty long. I mean, I already have trouble just thinking about using an elevator with a hundred floors. All fears aside, I would have to admit, an elevator TO SPACE is pretty awesome.
Transportation of goods would be relatively cheaper because aerospace companies wouldn’t have to keep remanufacturing space rockets and other things. We would be moving forward towards ideas on planet-hopping and studying more about the space world and cheering on, as Buzz Lightyear so famously quoted, ” to infinity and beyond!”.
However, there are some elements that would have to be considered and have safety protocols in return. Some are the following:
The weather
Conflicts with countries and people who would use this for something other than good
The strength of the material used for building
Passing meteors or space junk that might
To wrap everything up, researchers and scientists are still ongoing with how we are to design this access to space. Ideas keep on coming. It might seem like such a huge project and idea, but researchers are still definitely working to have this in our future.
Quote of AWESOMENESS: “I rebel; therefore I exist.” – Albert Camus
…with a cause
“Rebel? REBEL??!”
In most cases, the word rebellion or rebel is associated with nothing good. Parents and friends warn to steer clear from anything at all rebellious. It has come to a point where when one mentions the word “rebel,” the other keeps their eyes down and avoids at all costs. However, since you clicked this blog, I will assume that you want to know what rebellion is and that maybe you want to understand better and be a rebel. Let’s continue.
Basically:
ℝ𝕖𝕓𝕖𝕝 = 𝔹𝔸𝔻𝔹𝔸𝔻𝔹𝔸𝔸𝔻(at least according to most)
However, I believe that this needs a perspective change. We need to look at it in a right angle and see “rebellion” as the exact opposite of what most people agree it to be.
Let’s take a step back for a moment and analyze this.
The definition of a rebel is:
Someone who goes against authority
Someone who stands up or defies authority
Usually, a rebellious person is known as one who challenges authority, breaks the rules, behaves in unacceptable ways, and refuse to do what they are told they have to do. But, the thing is, at times, situations handed to us by so-called “higher authority”, by society, and those that want to make the majority of people feel inferior to them, need to be stood up to.
Let’s look at a few peeps in our history who were classified as rebels (but aka, in my opinion, pretty cool humans):
✰ Spartacus
This dude was a slave of the Roman Empire as well as a Thracian gladiator. In the Third Servile War, he led the slave revolt which was able to do many defeats toward the Roman army before he was struck down once and for all.
✰ Frederick Douglass
Frederick was born in slavery in 1818 but escaped when he was a young man. He spent his life going against the injustices and fighting for equality for Women’s Rights and other slaves.
✰ Flying University
Okay, this might not be a person, BUT, it is an excellent example of an idea implemented that rebelled the system. During the time when women and some men weren’t given equal opportunity to study, there was a university that was known as the Flying University. The reason why it got this name was that the meetings of the students of this university had to keep switching from location to location to avoid the authority and being caught. Quite rebellious, huh.
✰ Rosa Parks
Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was a woman of great dignity and courage. She was a civil rights leader. She refused to give up her seat to somebody who thought that he was more valuable and deserving as a human being to have these privileges caused by society. She was tired of following these guidelines that were given to her and rebelled against what she was taught to do (which was give way and keep your head down). She kept her head up, despite the danger that lurked, stared danger in the eye, rebelled, and this bravery led to a nationwide effort to end racial segregation of public facilities. An absolute warrior.
These are only a few examples of those who rebelled. Those who, despite the challenges they acknowledged they would face, still stood up and went against what others were handing to them on a silver plate to just conform to.

Here comes the good stuff. The interesting bit. Your guide to being a rebel and finding your cause.
Remember to always keep in mind that rebelling doesn’t mean being a jerk or trying hard to be cool. And, rebelling is your attitude and not how you dress. That this kind of lifestyle will have its consequences like everything else in life and navigating through it, you have to be smart and think through and stay strong.
Some tips and steps to your journey:
Question Popular Belief and Hold Unpopular Views on Social Issues
Some examples for this would be how, before, segregation was a popular belief. Today it is considered wrong because it is. Those people who went against that belief and fought against segregation are now known as thinkers and upholders of freedom. One other popular social norm in today’s world would be partying and doing drugs to be cool and living life but going against that and expressing it to others is your rebellion.
The reason why most people don’t question the beliefs they have or what others have is that it’s easier to just accept things at face value. Although questioning things does help you stand out, naturally, it also helps you to find the truth. Yes, it will be tough, especially when you usually just accept what’s given, but you’re tougher.
Imagine we just accepted that the earth was flat or that Earth was the center of the universe? crazy.
Speak Your Mind and Do You
I don’t just mean to blabber out whatever pops in your head about someone or something. When I say Speak Your Mind, I mean to be an advocate for your personal opinions and beliefs. To speak about those issues that you actually believe in. Those things that you want to resolve.
Does your food in your school cafeteria suck? Talk to the school administration. Work something out. Show some facts and clear evidence on why it would be better to give our better food.
Do you see people excessively use plastic? Try working out something with the school to make an awareness week or talk about it during an assembly. Inspire people and talk to them about the difference they can make. Creatively show what the world could be with everyone helping through art. Do something, say something.
Now, what do I mean when I say Do You? I mean to not be pressured to do what others are doing just because they consistently ask you to. Do what’s in your heart and not what others expect of you, that’s one of the foundations of being a rebel. Want to suddenly do dancing? Join a dance class or just start dancing when music plays at lunchtime. Want to argue with others on their beliefs? Join a debate club. Want to help those animals and nature have a voice? Speak up, join a club, -heck even make your own club! Do you.
Ignore the Negative Opinions but Stand Up for Your beliefs
Let’s face it. There will always be people out there who will find a way to talk you down just because that’s how they act. But, don’t let this get to you. You’re not trying to stay in the clear zone and please people, you’re focusing on doing you. These people mock because they aren’t comfortable with different or strange. But don’t take what they say about you to heart.
Although you may listen when teachers or others tell you to behave a certain way because it is the rules, you may follow these. But if it’s because they want you to follow a norm simply say you’re not breaking any rules.
Responsibly Rebel
There is a distinct difference with being rebellious and being reckless. They are not the same. If something has a serious possibility of harming others or yourself don’t do it. To rebel is to fight conformity and stand out. It’s not to harm and be dumb. To rebel is to be original and not to demean others. You have to learn how to choose your battles. Another thing to keep in mind is that you don’t have to be alone. You don’t have to be this lone wolf to be a rebel. Being nice to people is still a nice thing to do and having real friends is healthy too.
There are real consequences to serious actions. So, break rules, not laws. Remember, rules NOT laws.
You know how to THINK like a rebel, ACT like a rebel, and to be responsible. Being a rebel is an attitude. The next step is finding your cause and fighting for it. Align your actions with your passions. Be a rebel but have dignity.
